How does PrivaBlock Platinum protect my identity? - PrivaBlock Platinum uses real time monitoring of a customer's identity elements such as name, address, Social Security number, date of birth and phone number.

What does PrivaBlock Platinum monitor to protect my identity? - PrivaBlock Platinum continually monitors for unauthorized use of a member's identity information in over 1000 public and private databases and over 650 billion data points.

What types of data does PrivaBlock Platinum monitor? - PrivaBlock Platinum monitors over 1000 public and private databases including:

What happens if PrivaBlock Platinum detects a possible threat? - If PrivaBlock detects a possible threat to a members identity, the customer will be sent an email alert instructing them to immediately login to their account and determine if fraud has occurred.

What do I do if I think someone has stolen my identity - If you have logged in to your account after an email alert and do not recognize the transaction or application made with your personal information, then it is possible your identity has ben stolen and fraud has occurred. Immediately call our identity theft report line 1-855-306-9430 for instructions on how to proceed.

Identity Theft

What is identity theft? - Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personally identifying information, like your name, Social Security number, or credit card number, without your permission, to commit fraud or other crimes.

How is my identity stolen? - Thieves may use a variety of methods to steal your identity information some of which include going through your trash, stealing your mail, stealing your wallet, computer "phishing" and even changing your address.

What do thieves do with my stolen identity? - There are many ways your stolen identity can be used including; opening fraudulent credit cards in your name, gaining access to your ATM card, applying for loans and other types of credit in your name, or receiving fraudulent drivers licenses or social security cards in your name.

How do I know if my identity has been stolen? - If you are not using an identity protection service like PrivaBlock, the best way is to monitor all of your accounts and bank statements each month, and check your credit report on a regular basis.

What do I do if I think my identity has been stolen? - If you are not using an identity protection service like PrivaBlock, immediately place fraud alerts on your credit reports, close all accounts that you think have been tampered with or opened fraudulently, contact the Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint, and contact your local police department and file a report.

How do I protect myself from identity theft? - Your best protection is knowledge and awareness. Be aware of how information is stolen and what you can do to protect yours. Monitor your personal information to uncover any problems quickly, and know what to do when you suspect your identity has been stolen.

Computer Protection / Bitdefender

What is Bitdefender? - Bitdefender is the award winning antivirus and antispyware software included with your Platinum Plan membership. Bitdefender protects you from programs that track your online and offline activity, including password stealers, trojans, worms, keystroke loggers, and other malware. Also included in the software is a Data Vault to protect your confidential files, and a File Shredder to ensure the online thieves can never resurrect your deleted data.

How many computers can I install the Bitdefender software on? - You can install the software on one computer.

How do I install Bitdefender? - After you activate your PrivaBlock Platinum Plan membership, you will be emailed detailed instructions on how to download and install your Bitdefender software. You can always download the software from you online personal dashboard as well.

What is the Data Vault? - The Data Vault is a feature that allows you to protect your sensitive and confidential files by locking them in encrypted file folders or vaults. Only you will have the encryption key to these vaults and therefore, your files are protected from virtual and physical theft.

How do I access the Data Vault? - You can access the Data Vault from the "File Storage" tab in the Bitdefender software. Once there, you can create, delete and administer secure file vaults that will protect your valuable proprietary information.

What is the file shredder and how do I use it? - When you delete files from your computer, they aren't really deleted. We provide you with a file shredder program which permanently deletes files from your computer. Within the Bitdefender program, go to the "Tune Up" tab and select "File Shredder".
